The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Citizen Academy I provides our citizens with an in-depth look at our department and the training our officers receive. The MPD Citizen Academy is committed to the improvement of the quality of life by developing, enabling and nurturing positive communication, mutual understanding and support between the police department and the citizens of Milwaukee.

Next Citizen Academy March 12th, 2024

Tuesday nights 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Who can participate?
Applicants will be subject to a background check and individuals who apply for the Milwaukee Police Citizen Academy must be:
- A resident of the City of Milwaukee or person who works or is active in the City of Milwaukee
- At least 21 years of age
- Have no felony convictions within the last 15 years
- Have no current criminal charges pending.
Participants who complete the 7 week program will receive a certificate of completion at the Citizen Academy Graduation. For more information call the Milwaukee Police Department Office of Community Outreach and Education.
Note: Citizen Academy has a $20 fee for a uniform polo that participants get to keep.

Citizen Academy II

Citizen Academy II is our advanced academy and has a pre-requisite of attending our Citizen Academy within the previous 4 years.
- Some of the topics include:
- Community Engagement & Programs
- High Risk Traffic Stops
- Search Warrants
- Defense and Arrest Tactics
- Civilian Response to Active Shooter
Note: Citizen Academy II has a $25 fee for a uniform zip up fleece sweater that participants get to keep.
