District One is home to Downtown Milwaukee, UW-Milwaukee, the trendy East-side and the central business district. It’s home to 45,000 people and everything from skyscrapers to brownstones to refurbished warehouses.

Today, District One has a wide variety of differing population groups and neighborhoods as well as many businesses. Downtown is home to; large corporations, office buildings, restaurants, hotels and exciting night life and dining. Water Street and Old World Third Street are among the entertainment areas of downtown. District One is also home to University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM), and the restaurants and shops and of E. North Avenue, Brady Street and Farwell Avenue.

Attractions include; Summerfest, the Performing Arts Center, Public and Art Museums and Discovery World, as well as many theaters and music venues. Jazz In The Park, River Rhythms, Farmers Markets, Parades, Air and Water Shows, Fireworks Displays, and Street Festivals, along with many more events that are held in District One.

The District One Police Station is located on the second floor of the Police Administration Building located at 749 W. State Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233.
Large homes on the Upper East Side, condominium and apartments on the Lower East Side and historical lofts throughout the Third Ward are found throughout District One

Foot Beats & Bicycle Patrols

This allows officers more direct contact with the community and helps to better serve the business and entertainment districts in downtown Milwaukee.


Harbor Patrol

Serving the lakefront and river areas of District One. Officers work to maintain boating safety and to provide search and rescue services, helping boaters in distress and ensure safe watercraft operation. This unit is especially focused on water safety during large events like 4th of July Fireworks.


Mounted Patrol

Mainly working downtown to provide support to patrolling officers, The Mounted Patrol support safety efforts and crowd management during festivals and other highly attended events.

Above and Beyond

District One Community Service Officer King took a theft report of a bicycle and then bought a new bicycle for the community member. Thank you for your kind gesture and for going above and beyond CSO King! 


District One had a great time at Wheels and Water event, hosted by Discovery World! This free, family friendly event gives participants the ability to see the incredible machines our city needs to thrive and meet the teams that operate them.
